A two-time FIFA World Cup veteran and 2012 Olympic gold medalist with 43 caps for El Tri, recently re-signed with Empire through the 2026–27 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) campaign. The Chivas de Guadalajara legend originally joined Empire early in 2023–24 as part of a landmark move for the league and the sport. Over the course of his accomplished career, Fabián has lifted Germany’s domestic cup with Eintracht Frankfurt and featured in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Philadelphia Union as well as with four Mexican first division teams in Chivas, Cruz Azul, Juárez and Mazatlán.

Upon arriving in California, the midfielder with the powerful right foot took the MASL by storm, as he shared the 2023-24 Golden Boot with Kansas City’s Zach Reget (35 goals each), earning Elite Six and Newcomer of the Year honors in the process. He also tied for first in in power play goals (6), for fifth in points per game (2.2) and for sixth in total attacking points (47). Fabián enjoyed another excellent showing in 2024–25, notching a selection to this year’s All-Star Game and later landing on the MASL Second Team after finishing eighth in both points (41) and goals (25) as well as tied for sixth in points per game (2.0).

Marco Fabián is not only a key player for the Empire Strykers but also a trailblazer for a new era in the MASL. Under the leadership of Jeff Burum, Fabián is embracing innovative opportunities that reflect the league’s bold vision for the future. As one of the most recognized and respected players in the league, he is playing a crucial role in helping activate league-wide initiatives and supporting MASL’s expansion efforts. With plans to introduce new teams in Sacramento and Las Vegas for the 2027-2028 season and to deepen the league’s footprint in Mexico, Fabián’s presence signals a powerful alignment between top-tier talent and ambitious league growth. His commitment on and off the field is helping to shape the next generation of indoor soccer.
