A native of North Minneapolis, Devean George made history when he became the first-ever NCAA Division III basketball player selected in the first round of an NBA draft, by the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his first three seasons as a Laker, the team won 3 NBA Championship. Throughout his 11-year NBA career, Devean played with the Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Golden State Warriors.

In 2011 Devean launched his nonprofit Building Blocks, with the mission of combatting generational poverty through quality and self-sustaining housing and community businesses He develops these disruptive Community Redevelopment projects through his George Group North Real Estate development company.

Most recently, Devean launched George Modular Innovation Solutions close to (downtown Minneapolis) to manufacture and deliver over 2,000 low gage steel modular units annually and create over 200 jobs.
