Gabriel de Alba is the Founder & Managing Partner of GDA Luma Capital Management, L.P. With over 25 years of experience in investing, operations, and corporate leadership, he specializes in control and influence investments in distressed and undervalued situations. His strategic focus includes recapitalization, cash flow generation, and ESG/digital transformation, with expertise across technology, hospitality, pharma/healthcare, media, telecom, and consumer discretionary sectors.

Mr. de Alba currently serves as Chairman of Cirque du Soleil, Executive Chairman of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited, and Chairman of Frontera Energy Corporation. Previously, he held leadership roles including Chairman of Geneba Properties, Chairman and CEO of Cable Satisfaction International Inc./Cabovisão, and Director of World Color.

Prior to founding GDA Luma, Mr. de Alba spent 19 years as Managing Director & Partner at The Catalyst Capital Group, where he helped raise $4.5 billion across seven investment funds and served as Chairman, Board Member, and CEO of multiple portfolio companies. He has led stakeholder groups in distressed and special situations, navigating both debt and equity refinancings and recapitalizations. His investment career spans seven economic and credit crises, dating back to the 1994 Tequila Crisis.

Mr. de Alba is a member of the World Economic Forum Regional Action Group. He has been recognized with the 2020 Leadership Achievement Award and was named the 2018 Global Private Equity Growth Dealmaker of the Year.

Mr. de Alba holds a B.S. in Finance and Economics from NYU Stern School of Business, an MBA from Columbia University, and has substantially completed a graduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Harvard University. Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French, Mr. de Alba is an international investor who has recapitalized, restructured, and built businesses across the U.S., Europe, Canada, and global markets.
